In a year of high profile movies, mainstream media attention, and outspoken support for the adult industry, acclaimed adult performer Casey Calvert has been nominated for Female Performer of the Year for the 2016 XBIZ Awards.
Calvert received the honor along with a nomination for Best Actress – All Girl Release for the best-selling film “Girlfriends” by Wicked Pictures. The movie, written and directed by adult superstar Stormy Daniels, tells the story of a small town girl (Calvert) who moves to Los Angeles and becomes involved in a same sex relationship and in the drama that ensues.
“It’s been an amazing year of incredibly hard work and lots of accomplishments, so I’m very thankful to XBIZ for these nominations,” Calvert said. “I’m especially thankful to Wicked and Stormy for the opportunity to be a part of ‘Girlfriends’ and its amazing cast and production team.”
Earlier this year, the talented young performer was named “One of the Top 7 Porn Stars You Need to Know About” by Bustle.com, one of the top women’s lifestyle sites in the world. Calvert’s rising star power was also acknowledged by the adult industry when XRCO named her the 2015 Unsung Siren of the Year.
In addition to her acclaimed role in “Girlfriends,” the brunette beauty earned critical praise for her performance as the daughter of porn stars in B. Skow’s “Proud Parents,” from Skow for Girlfriends Films. XCritic’s Don Houston noted, “This was a breakout role for Casey Calvert, who was well cast as the lead, and I doubt anyone else could have captured the family dynamics.”
Calvert’s work in Hard X’s “Analized” earned this review from Rob Perez of XCritic: “Casey Calvert is surely one of the most explosive performers today, a girl who not too long ago was saving herself for the right person; now, she’s a full blown anal queen.”
Performing aside, it has been a big year off-screen for Calvert. Since January, she has been featured in Huffington Post, Mandatory.com, Refinery 29, The Daily Beast, UPROXX, NextShark.com, Ravishly.com, CraveOnline, Cosmopolitan, and many other top news and entertainment sites. She is also starring in the new television campaign for WeAre18.com and is the official BDSM & Fetish Expert for GameLink.com
In October, Calvert’s compelling personal essay about her decision to join the porn business was published in Coming Out Like a Porn Star, an all-new book edited by industry veteran Jiz Lee.
