Romantic Adventures Says Men’s Sex Toy Market Still Toughest Nut to Crack

After nearly a decade on the job at Romantic Adventures, an adults-only superstore on Mississippi’s bustling Highway 80, owner/manager Tami Rose says that the popularity of men’s sex toys is on the rise but has yet to explode in the marketplace like it has for women.

While ladies’ pleasure products have been popular for years, spawning naughty novelty parties, pleasure workshops and bachelorette ‘dos celebrated with chardonnay and champagne, sales of men’s toys have been a much quieter affair.

“Men are definitely still more shy than the women… many seem to feel a lot of shame about buying masturbators, and tell us it is for a friend or a party gag gift. They often never say a word and rarely make eye contact when ringing up porn as well.”

Rose says that the sex toy stigma is slowly being lifted, but for now, “supplements are currently our bread and butter in the men’s store; we have some regulars who come by on Fridays for a weekend pick-me-up, and it is a very jovial atmosphere.”

The store’s current best-selling novelties include “a lot of cock rings and cock ring-based toys like the Screaming O line. Fleshlight is always a favorite, as is this intense line of sensation play by Master Series, Sounding Rods and Chastity Play. Glass and stainless steel are men’s favored materials and Butt Plugs by Spark are popular as well.”

Romantic Adventures’ staff members are trained to put their customers at ease and “work the counter like friendly bartenders,” said Rose. “We are good at going with the flow at Romantic Adventures and just try to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe while they make their selections.”
